At CAFFENIO, we are aware of the waste generated by our operations. We implement circular thinking strategies that allow us to return some materials back to the earth.
We know you love both the planet and our coffee. That’s why we implement sustainable actions so you can have a planet the way you like it. To develop a sustainable way of life, cooperation is necessary between us, our employees, suppliers, and end customers.
We use certified glasses SFI (Sustainable Forestry Initiative®), which indicates that the material used in their preparation comes from forests subject to environmental audit processes.
Our cups can be processed in composting plants, and due to their thermal characteristics, they protect the consumer from burning their hands, thus eliminating the need for cardboard sleeves around the cup.
We also offer refill options at our CAFFENIO Drive locations, providing cost savings when ordering your drink—and with that, we help the planet move toward a better future.
Sustainable energy is an opportunity to transform life, the economy, and the planet.
Our commitment includes integrating eco-friendly solutions for energy resources in production processes. The energy required to produce our products comes from various sources, both renewable and non-renewable, and we aim to increase our use of clean energy every year—such as self-generated energy from solar panels.
In 2021, 76% of the energy used in our Hermosillo, Sonora production and logistics plants came from renewable energy sources.
We have solar panels at our production and logistics plant. 38% of the energy consumed is self-generated from these panels, representing a 17% increase over 2020.
Through solar energy generation, we avoid emitting 509.12 tons of CO₂.

Since 2017 we have been members of the Northwest Energy Union, where 100% of the energy we consume is through Energy Cogeneration. This relationship allows greater efficiency in energy generation, in such a way that we consume fewer resources in the process, which is reflected in fewer polluting emissions.
Our waste and byproduct management strategy has earned us recognition as a Zero Waste company since 2019. We utilize 100% of the waste generated at our Hermosillo, Sonora production plant, and we are designing initiatives to extend this strategy to other locations.
To reduce the impact of our operations, we’ve implemented a vehicle emissions control program, which includes vehicle replacement, maintenance, route optimization, and fuel control. Thanks to this initiative, we have maintained 2019-level fuel efficiency.
