HARVEST

Since 2011, CAFFENIO has supported its production chain with COSECHA, a technical assistance and financing program to provide coffee growers with the necessary resources to boost their crops. In this way, CAFFENIO strengthens ties with Mexican producers, promoting fair trade and contributing to the development of Mexico.

Mission:

Work together with coffee growers to rescue their farms, achieving greater production in the area and a better quality of life for the community.

From 2011 to date we have reaped great fruits and we continue working to continue promoting sustainability in an integral way, achieving a positive impact that is reflected in each cup of coffee.

Vision:

That the HARVEST program be recognized at the national level as one of the best support projects for coffee growers in the coffee growing area of the country.

Training the coffee farmers of tomorrow

In 2018, “Training the coffee growers of tomorrow” was born where through art, games and the creation of school gardens, we promote the pride of belonging to the agricultural sector. The project began in five schools in the communities of Xonotla, Totutla, Sabanas and Manuel González in Huatusco, Veracruz, benefiting 820 students with the delivery of the coloring book “Journey to the origin of coffee”, whose purpose is to publicize the process that goes through the coffee bean from the nursery to the point of sale; also with the creation of 4 school orchards, where coffee trees are delivered to children, with the purpose of introducing them to the plant and learning its cultivation.

Promoting the sustainability of coffee growing in Mexico, we created in 2018 the component Training tomorrow’s coffee growers, part of the HARVEST program.

The component seeks to contribute to generational integration through the recognition and rescue of the agricultural tradition with actions that encourage generational relief through art, games and the creation of school gardens. The objectives are:

• Recognize the value of agriculture.
• Stimulate the recovery of practices that protect biodiversity.
• Bring to schools complementary activities to education that arouse interest in coffee growing.

In the first stage of application, we began in five schools in the communities of Xonotla, Totutla, Sábanas and Manuel González in the Alta Montaña area, in Veracruz, benefiting 820 students with the delivery of the coloring book “Journey to the origin of coffee”. , whose purpose is to publicize the process that the coffee bean goes through, from the nursery to the point of sale.

We also created 4 school gardens so that they get to know the plant, learn about its cultivation and develop a love for the Mexican land where they live. In October 2018, the practice received the Distinctive Best CSR Practices (Corporate Social Responsibility) in the field of Community Engagement.
